Who this licence suits?
What you can do
A poultry processing facility licence lets you slaughter and process poultry for human consumption.
With this licence, you can:
- slaughter poultry to sell the meat for human consumption
- process poultry meat from birds you have slaughtered for wholesale or retail sale
- store poultry meat from birds you have slaughtered for wholesale or retail sale
- sell poultry meat from birds you have slaughtered for wholesale or retail sale
- render prime tallow or inedible by-products from birds you have slaughtered
- slaughter rabbits for human consumption.
With this licence, you can operate the following if all the meat and by-products come from your abattoir:
- further meat processing facility
- retail butcher shop
- prime tallow processing facility
- inedible rendering facility.
What you cannot do
You cannot:
- slaughter consumable animals other than poultry and rabbits - you need an abattoir licence
- slaughter game - you need a game meat processing licences
- slaughter poultry to sell their meat for pet food - you need a pet food establishment licence
- process poultry meat slaughtered by another business (get a further meat processing facility licence)
- transport meat or seafood - you need a meat transport vehicle licence
