Who this licence suits?
There are three aquaculture licences. The species of seafood you grow and harvest determines which licence you need.
You only need to hold one licence — the licence that covers the species you intend to grow and harvest.
For example:
- If you want to grow and harvest abalone, and also harvest blue mussels, other shellfish and fin fish, get an abalone licence.
- If you want to grow and harvest blue mussels or other shellfish only, get a blue mussels and other shellfish licence.
What you can do
With any Aquaculture licence, you can:
- process seafood only to preserve it, so it is safe to sell
- sell seafood you have harvested from the vessel at the point of unloading
- transport live seafood
