Licence renewal
You must renew your food safety licence before the end of each licence period to continue operating.
Renewal timeframes vary depending on your licence type.
Renewal dates

| Dairy food carrier | Every year | 1 January |
| Dairy manufacturer | Every year | 1 January |

Before you renew
To renew your licence, you must:
- submit a completed renewal application, and
- pay all applicable and outstanding fees
A new licence certificate will be issued for each renewal period.
If you do not renew
If you do not complete your renewal application or pay required fees:
- your licence will lapse, and
- Safe Food Victoria will notify you in writing
Eligibility for renewal
Your licence may not be eligible for renewal if:
- you have not operated your business during the previous licence period and have not advised your intention to recommence, or
- you have not complied with licence conditions
Dairy farmer licences
For dairy farmers where fees are paid by a manufacturer:
- renewal may occur automatically if there is a record of milk supply within the 6 months before the renewal date
If there is no record of supply:
- your licence may not be renewed unless you advise your intention to recommence operations
