You must tell Safe Food Victoria (SFV) in writing if your dairy business has stopped operating or will stop operating.
SFV may cancel a dairy industry licence if the licensee has ceased to carry on the business specified in the licence, or on other grounds set out in the licensing policy and Dairy and Food Innovation Act 2000.
If you tell us your business has stopped or will stop operating
If you want to voluntarily cancel your licence, you must complete the licence cancellation form and advise SFV in writing that your business has ceased operating or will cease operating.
- SFV will start the cancellation process when we receive your written notification, or on the date you tell us operations will cease.
If SFV proposes to cancel your licence
SFV may begin a cancellation process if there are grounds to cancel a licence. Before cancelling a licence, SFV will write to the licensee and explain:
- that SFV intends to cancel the licence
- the reason for the proposed cancellation
- that the licensee has an opportunity to reply before a final decision is made
If SFV decides to cancel the licence, the cancellation will take effect 28 days after written notification is given. During this period, the licensee may apply to the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal for review of the decision.
